Hello dear PML-N family,
The month of March is experiencing the heat of physical as well as political weather in the country. At a time when we expected the colourful, fragrant and blossoming spring season, we got summer temperatures. Likewise, with the submission of a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan by the opposition, the political atmosphere has heated up considerably, with the government trying desperately to cling to power. Despite the struggle going on at the top, my heart deep down says that we are heading to a wonderful era of change finally, after a cumbersome struggle for true democracy.
In this edition, we have covered pressing local and global issues, including gaps in existing education policy, the new wave of terrorism in Pakistan, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and global economic turmoil.
March is also the month when the Muslims of the sub-continent first put forward the demand for a separate country. I was imagining the Greater Iqbal Park 75 years ago with millions of humans surrounding the huge revolving wooden stage. Quaid-e-Azam was creating history that day while presenting the two-nations theory in his address. Mr Jinnah was delivering his speech in English and the father Of Urdu journalism Molana Zafar Ali Khan was translating it into Urdu for the understanding of the masses. 23 March 1940 was the day of hope and determination for millions of Muslims of the sub-continent. On this day, the All India Muslim League (AIML) passed a resolution for the creation of a separate federation based on Muslim-majority regions in British India. Let’s cherish and value the freedom for which our elders made sacrifices.
March is also the month that marks the festival of colours. On behalf of my editorial board, I wish Happy Holi to our Hindu sisters and brothers across the globe.
