The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) held a significant meeting of its overseas delegations at a local hotel in Lahore. Chaired by General Secretary of the PML-N Overseas Noor Ul Hassan Tanvir and Chief Patron Barrister Amjad Malik, the gathering addressed key issues and celebrated notable achievements, including the re-election of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as President of the PML-N on May 28, 2024.
In his address, Chaudhry Noor Ul Hassan Tanvir praised the role played by the PML-N overseas chapters in the election of the party president. Barrister Amjad Malik announced the establishment of various wings to further organise the party’s efforts overseas, including the Trade Wing, Women’s Wing, and Youth Wing. He also lauded the Punjab Government’s Overseas Commission for its exemplary work in resolving the issues of overseas Pakistanis and called for the establishment of similar commissions in other provinces.
Sheikh Azmat Saeed, President of the PML-N Saudi Arabia Chapter, along with General Secretary Rana Tariq Mehmood and Chaudhry Rashid Gujjar, highlighted several challenges faced by the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia. These include the insufficient number of Pakistani schools, lack of cooperation from Pakistani foreign missions, and the absence of legal assistance for Pakistanis abroad.
Representatives from the PML-N Japan Chapter urged the reactivation of Pakistan’s trade policy from 2013 to 2017, citing its potential to positively impact Pakistan’s trade balance. Meanwhile, President of the PML-N Türkiye, Mir Abrar, raised the critical issue of illegal human trafficking. He noted that illegal Pakistani immigrants in Türkiye are often transferred to the Kurd community area and face severe risks, including kidnapping and ransom demands.
Senior leaders of the PML-N France Chapter, Muhammad Hanif and Talat Chauhan, proposed hosting the World PML-N Convention in France, while the delegation from South Africa called for a senior Pakistani government delegation to visit South Africa to strengthen trade relations. They highlighted the significant presence of the Pakistani community in South Africa, predominantly involved in business, and emphasised the untapped trade opportunities in the African market.
The event was graced by the presence of senior journalists Salman Ghani and Nasrullah Malik, as well as PML-N Women’s Wing leader Shumaila Rana. In conclusion, the event reinforced the importance of implementing the party’s manifesto following the establishment of the PML-N government at the federal and Punjab levels.
PML-N overseas members meet Pakistan’s delegation in China
In a significant effort to foster collaboration, members of the PML-N in China met with Pakistan’s official delegation in Shenzhen during Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China from 4-8 June 2024.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accompanied by key members of his cabinet, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal, Minister of Industries and Production Rana Tanveer, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Privatisation Minister Aleem Khan.
The premier addressed a joint business forum in Shenzhen, a major global technology hub, highlighting the importance of CPEC collaborations extending into the industrial, IT, and agricultural sectors. Encouraging the involvement of the private sector and B2B engagements, Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the mutual benefits of such collaborations.
Prominent PML-N members who participated in the event included Sheikh Arsalan Hafeez, Haji Fida Hussain, Rana Ghulam Rabbani, Kashif Amin, Javed Shabbir, and Chaudhry Mohsin. The meeting provided the government with valuable on-the-ground information, aiding in the formulation of better policies to benefit Pakistan.
“Today is the moment for you to capture, sit down with our Chinese friends and brothers and have serious discussions. I want to assure you not only as the prime minister of Pakistan but as the chief executive officer of Pakistan, that you will have my full support like never before to promote your efforts to stitch these deals so that Pakistani and Chinese businessmen benefit jointly,” PM Shehbaz Sharif stated in his address to the assembled Pakistani and Chinese executives.
