The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) continues to make significant strides in addressing the concerns of the diaspora and strengthening their connection with the homeland. Through a series of events and policy initiatives, the party has reaffirmed its dedication to resolving legal, economic, and social challenges overseas Pakistanis face while engaging them in Pakistan’s development.
Fulfilling a key promise from its 2024 election manifesto, the PML-N government has established special courts at both the federal and provincial levels dedicated to addressing the legal issues of overseas Pakistanis. To celebrate this achievement and engage the diaspora, PML-N organised a high-profile conference in Lahore, inviting delegations from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, the UAE, Japan, the Netherlands, and other countries. Punjab cabinet ministers also participated in the initiative.
Barrister Amjad Malik led discussions with overseas Pakistanis at the conference, conducting an open forum to review the government’s policies and address concerns. Attendees widely appreciated the establishment of special courts, recognising it as a crucial step in ensuring swift resolution of property and legal disputes faced by expatriates.
Humanitarian efforts in South Africa
Beyond policy measures, PML-N’s overseas chapters are actively involved in welfare initiatives. In South Africa, the party organised a community welfare event in Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg. Under the leadership of PML-N South Africa Chief Patron Ashfaq Anwar, the event provided shoes and clothing to women and children.
In addition, Ashfaq Anwar extended his philanthropic efforts to education by distributing computers, scientific calculators, books, school bags, and water tanks to various schools. His mission to improve educational facilities for underprivileged students aligns with PML-N’s broader vision of social upliftment in Pakistan and globally.
Engaging the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia
Recognising the vital role of the Pakistani workforce in Saudi Arabia, senior PML-N leader and Chairman of Chief Minister Punjab’s Task Force for Prisons Rana Mannan Khan visited the Kingdom. Hosted by PML-N Overseas Saudi Arabia leader Rana Ashraf Khan, the visit featured an open forum where expatriates voiced their concerns and shared suggestions.
During the discussion, Rana Mannan Khan assured attendees that the government remains committed to implementing its 2024 manifesto, particularly focusing on initiatives benefitting overseas Pakistanis. He reiterated the significance of the newly established special courts and pledged continued efforts to resolve expatriates’ challenges. Attendees expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and appreciated its responsiveness to their needs.
Promoting economic collaboration in Hong Kong
In a significant outreach effort, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb visited Hong Kong to address a business community seminar organised by the PML-N Hong Kong chapter. The seminar served as a platform to discuss Pakistan’s economic policies and attract investment from overseas Pakistanis. Minister Aurangzeb provided insights into the government’s efforts to stabilise the economy, a discussion that generated interest among attendees in investing in Pakistan.
The event was made possible through the collaboration of PML-N Hong Kong chapter leader Imran Khan and Prime Minister’s National Youth Council member Zain Ali. The finance minister emphasised that the government values overseas Pakistanis’ input and is eager to incorporate their suggestions into economic policy.
